I was not so impressed with the offerings this year PostSecret had for Mother's Day. There were a few powerful and memorable ones last year, but these are still very good. I actually kept the one I could relate to most. Unfortunately, I can't find it, but it said something along the lines of, "I'm not running from you, I'm running from myself. I love you mom!" It had a stick figure running. Very cute.
In lieu of that secret, here is another one I saved but managed to find.
If you live in the US long enough, you start to think that there are very few people who appreciate their mothers. But PostSecret really manages to show the connections even the darkest of us share. It has made me believe it is hard to find someone who does not love or at least appreciate their mother.
And for the record, my mom's better than your mom. Don't argue: I know every "yo mama" joke and I'm not afraid to use them.

Otakus. We know them. We've seen them grow into lazy, good-for-nothing anime lovers who have a thing for upskirt shots and fanservice. Their numbers have grown to the size worthy of being called a religion. They even have canon media in the form of Elfen Lied, Azumanga Daioh, and Fullmetal Alchemist to prove how their Japanese masters can shock and disturb the nonbelievers.
If you protect the otaku way and take the internet seriously, you will go to Akihabara in your afterlife (i.e., when you turn 40). Akihabara is the name for otaku heaven, where everyone loves anime, there are cosplaying maids, and all the panty shots (SFW) you could want.
If you hide your true otaku, and shun the otaku way, your afterlife will be in otaku hell. That's right, Silicon Valley, where everyone is just as geeky and tech-oriented as you, but doesn't understand you and even mocks your addiction to Japanese anime! That is just unfair... It is a fearsome, socially-crippling, cruel punishment...
I'm actually ok with otakus. Hey, whatever makes you happy, right? I considered myself a pretty tolerant guy until yesterday, when this showed up as a featured youtube vid.
What the hell is this?! Someone make sense of it! It's not funny, cute, or entertaining! I love non-sequiturs very much, but this is just one long, awkward staring contest! WHY DID SO MANY VIEW THIS WILLINGLY?! Why couldn't my computer or eyes fail me for those awful 35 seconds?
Upon further investigation (clicking on her profile), I saw the warning signs of an otaku fanatic who was beyond salvation, beyond reason... "my dream... go to Japan..." "I'm not Japanese, but my site is..." "I don't know what my own site says..." (yeah, last one I made up, but it's probably true).
Otaku does not describe this level of unreasonable and unquestioning loyalty to a place. No, for someone this disturbing, a new word is in order. Its creation is as necessary as words like "hate" and "fart" are. I did not choose this word... like an onomatopoeia, the word just came to me when I saw her.
That new word is... Scien-otaku-ologist.

I read this article a few days ago and couldn't stop laughing. The author of this blog is right on the money about what blogging is, but to think NY Times bothered to write something so stupid left my sides sore. I mean, how is blogging any different than an internet addiction, or a gaming one? Just because of the money? Give me a break.
News is getting dumber and more desperate these days, and it is not the lack of content. Lots of interesting things are happening. Maybe people are just getting dumber?

I took a MacBook charger I found in Georgetown's MBA building during a late-night cram session. I saw it attached in one of the bigger rooms and knew the cleaning ladies would either take it or throw it away. So I left my contact info, but just so no random person tries to claim it, I wrote:
I found your charger, please e-mail me at xxx@xxx.x or call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx with what type of charger it is.
I never got a message, but I have no way of knowing if it was because a cleaning lady removed it or the guy never came back for his charger.
It is convenient to have a second charger, though...

I have not watched TV regularly until recently. I noticed that my motivation, energy, and ability to think were severely compromised when I did. It has been about five months since I started.
My own realization was what triggered my goal. It was this post that rung too close to home that motivated my plan to wean myself off TV.
Of course, I am not planning to never watch anything. The occasional series or movie marathoned will be fair game, but that will be planned, instead of mindlessly watching stuff on the tube. Once I pass the one month mark, I'm not going to go back to my old ways, but use that milestone as motivation to continue. I don't intend to turn on the TV for anything but video games from now on.

I keep watching this video over and over. Not because of the creepiness factor or the impressive technology, but because of the groping part and her slapping him! It's just hilarious on so many levels. Why would you program such a thing? Do you like it when she says no like a real woman would? I dunno, but just the timing of it is hilarious. First he hurts her and then gropes her.
It is probably a little unsafe for work, btw. Even if it is an artificial remake of a woman, still seems wrong that he's sexually harassing it, if you can sexually harass a computer. But hey, that guy doing a bike the other day was convicted, so you never know.
...or how my Sifu's bad acting and awesome skills landed him a star role in a movie
I heard about Sifu going to China to perform in an upcoming movie. I even looked at all the photos he shared with us during his stay there. He never once bothered mention that he was not just a stunt man, but one of the stars as well! How modest, and cool!
If you are wondering, Sifu Chris Mark is the one talking in english and doing all the stunts. Such clean technique, which is what makes him stand out from others, even among his own team. Ok, even as a student who must support his teacher, I admit his acting is funny (not bad, but funny), but that doesn't stop him from being still so cool!!! T_T
Kikz forever! I will watch this movie even without subtitles if I have to. And the only Chinese I know is thank you, hi, and hi on the phone.
...or why RSS rocks
I have a newfound appreciation for Flickr. I used to use its RSS feeds for just keeping up with friends (SARA, you're one day behind with 365 Days! Don't lose it now!). I never thought to use the search result as an RSS feed, though. Results on other sites tend to be pretty lackluster, but with Flickr, the feeds for things such as "wedding" have been very satisfactory!
Try it out! You won't regret it! Some Flickr people - like Sara - are amazing.
Since I have a couple of social feeds, I'm forced to use an online RSS reader, but after getting over the suckiness of Google Reader, I have grown to prefer online readers over offline ones. The obvious benefit of being available anywhere has little significance to this one computer guy.
I will wait one more day before answering questions, lol, just to see if anyone else is interested.
